Aizawl, Sept 18: A Delhi-based group of Myanmar nationals has urged the United League of Arakan and its armed wing, the Arakan Army, to investigate the burning of a volunteer checkpoint in Siaha district and take action against those responsible for it. The group, India for Myanmar, said the checkpoint of the Mara Thyutlia Py at Khaikhy village was set on fire on Monday following a dispute involving Rakhine merchants. It also called for compensation to those affected and an official apology to the people of Mizoram. According to the group, the dispute reportedly began over delays in the movement of goods caused by transportation problems during the rainy season.
